Hi everyone! My name is Jessie (she/her/hers), and I’m a freshman. I’m from Palo Alto, California, and that’s where I’m studying from now. In quarantine I’ve gotten to catch up on a lot of films and TV shows which has been really fun, as well as getting out and going on walks when I can. This photo is from a walk I took last week. :)
I’m really looking forward to getting on campus next year! I took Professor Ongiri’s Film History II class in the fall and loved it, and really wanted to take another class with them. I’m undecided on my major right now, but I’m interested in film studies. I absolutely love movies, and could talk about them forever. I’m so excited for this class and to learn more about and hear the perspectives of people from the BIPOC and queer communities. Also just getting exposed to more films surrounding black, brown, and queer people!

Hi! I'm LJ and it's nice to virtually meet you! What kind of movies do you enjoy? I think I watch a movie every other day and would watch more than that if I didn't have other commitments. I don't necessarily have a favorite genre but I have a sweet spot for movies that produce a major emotion. It can be anger, sadness, heartbreak, joy, bliss, etc. I recently have been watching some movies that are terrifying for me because they are realistic terrifying. Like if I really wanted to I could imagine myself in those scenarios and it would make sense. Realistic scary are the best and worst in my opinion. I hope we get to watch some beautiful films in this course. :)
ReplyDeleteHi there Jessie! As a fellow student who has had Prof. Ongiri for a course, I'm going to take in every moment of this last class with them. I also could talk about movies forever -- we'll have to be careful about letting other people in class speak I guess. Looking forward to having you in class!
ReplyDeleteDont hold back! I'm going to make sure that everyone gets a chance to be heard.
